The Bijiashan Water Plant Project is a demonstration project of the national “863” project “Safe Drinking Water Protection Technology in the Southern Region”. The results of this project also promoted Shenzhen to take the lead in formulating a comprehensive water quality development plan with international advanced level for the future. The original size of the Bijiashan Water Plant is 320,000 m3/d, which uses conventional flocculation, sedimentation, filtration, and chlorination disinfection. In order to improve the water quality of the city, the water plant has been expanded and rebuilt. The water supply scale has been expanded to 520,000 square meters/d, and the advanced treatment process of “ozone contact oxidation + biological activated carbon filtration” has been added on the basis of conventional treatment to ensure the effluent. The water quality has reached the international advanced level.
